1. Create three columns in your notebook like the ones below:

Dawes and Revere went separate routes because they could warn more of their fellow colonists from different towns about any action taken by the British troops.

2. Read the passage about the alarm riders on pg. 112. For each rider, list the locations the alarm rider visited to and list the direction in which the alarm rider rode. Also use the map on pg. 112 to guide you.


3. At the bottom of your chart, answer this question and be prepared to share out:
Why did Dawes and Revere go separate routes?


4.Turn to page 111 in your textbook. Draw an I See, It Means chart in your notebook and fill out the chart on this picture of the Battle of Lexington.

- British Troops are alined side by side firing their guns at the minuteman.
- There are houses in the area.
- Colonists are bleeding on the ground.
- Colonists are running away, but the British were still firing.

- There was a conflict between them to cause the British to fire.
- The British probably gone to town to try to take something and the colonists
resisted so this created a battle.
- Colonists tried to fight back and resist the British movements, but unfortunately died
- The British probably disoobeyed orders and fired at will, instead of trying not
to hurt any of the colonist.
- People with red coats are British officials.
- People with blue coats are minuteman (colonists).
- Colonists surrender and British won.

Similarities:
- Both of them had its own way of declaring its independence
- same words such as America, Law, Britain, Power, States, Now, people, blood
Differences: -talked more about the people
- many words were negative words such as prosecuted,
slaves, blood, punishments
- talked more about the governement with words such as Justice, right, goverenment,
colonies, declaring independence
The Malden Declaration is about the unfair treatments that are put upon the people and citizens.
The Declaration of Independence is about why the government of the colonies will be better without Britain.
